Research
Public-transit timetable data generation
To support the basic data infrastructure of regional public transport, the laboratory develops AI-enabled edge devices and tools that assist in creating operational data (for example, GTFS route and timetable data). We work with local community bus operators to support sustainable operation.
Educational software for computer architecture
We are replacing the KERNEL board used in the department's hardware courses (Computer Organization I and II) with a new teaching environment that simulates a model computer, including interrupt handling and integrated assignment submission.
Autonomous mobile robots
We propose perception models that a robot needs in order to drive, and apply machine learning based on those models. Applying the results to autonomous mobile robots enables high-precision driving.
Yasutake Laboratory
The laboratory currently supervises 20 undergraduate and 3 graduate students. Recent research topics include:
- Real-time detection and automatic counting of bus passengers with edge-AI cameras
- Construction and evaluation of a bus-passenger tracking system using an edge device and a monocular camera
- Development and UI design of a web application specialised for generating GTFS route and timetable data
- Construction of the KERNEL II educational simulator environment integrating interrupt-handling exercises and assignment submission
- Implementation of user authentication and submission management in a web application for Computer Organization II
- Dynamic line-following control with image-recognition-based obstacle avoidance for ET Robocon 2025
