Introduction

We built in trial a real-time colored display for sound spectrograms. This apparatus was aimed at being an effective means for recognition of various acoustic signals.

One of the main features of this apparatus is that the spectrogram is displayed on a color picture tube in real-time in a colored contour form resembling a contour map by converting the spectrum level to color (11 classes).

Another feature is that the spectrum pattern can be seen in sky-sign fashion by shifting the instantaneous spectrum on time axis reserving it in a certain time intervals.
